Professor of Psychiatry, Past President of the American Psychiatric Association (USA)

Prof. John Oldham, most prominent professor of psychiatry from USA, expert of personality disorders, will discuss about his areas of expertise in Congress Press Conference, Forum in Lithuanian Parliament and Symposiums.

A professor and Interim Chair of the Menninger Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Baylor College of Medicine, and he holds the Barbara and Corbin J. Robertson, Jr. Endowed Chair for Personality Disorders.

He received his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine and has been in practice for more than 20 years.

Prof. John Oldham previously served as Senior Vice President and Chief of Staff of the Menninger Clinic. Earlier in his career, he was Director of the New York State Psychiatric Institute, Chief Medical Officer of the New York State Office of Mental Health, and the Elizabeth K. Dollard Professor and Acting Chairman of the Department of Psychiatry, Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. In 2002, he became Professor and Chairman of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and Executive Director of the Institute of Psychiatry at the Medical University of South Carolina, and he relocated to Houston in 2007.

Prof. John Oldham is currently Secretary General of the American College of Psychiatrists. He was President of the American Psychiatric Association (2011-2012), President of the American College of Psychiatrists (2010-2011), Past President of the New York County District Branch of the American Psychiatric Association, Past President of the South Carolina Psychiatric Association, Past President of the International Society for the Study of Personality Disorders, and Past President of the Association for Research on Personality Disorders.

Prof. John Oldham is actively involved in teaching and research. His research interests are focused on the diagnosis and treatment of patients with severe personality disorders. He is editor-in-chief of the Journal of Psychiatric Practice and joint editor-in-chief of Borderline Personality Disorder and Emotion Dysregulation, and he has published extensively.
