Expert of Transcultural and Social Psychiatry, Co-chair of WPA Transcultural Section (Denmark)
Marianne Kastrup, most prominent professor of transcultural and social psychiatry from Denmark, co-chair of WPA Transcultural Section, will discuss about her areas of expertise in Meeting with Early Career Psychiatrists and Congress Symposiums.
Prof. Marianne Kastrup is a head of the National Centre for Transcultural Psychiatry in Copenhagen. She received her medical degree from University of Aarhus in 1973, Ph.D. in 1983 at the University of Copenhagen and completed post-graduate training in psychiatry at Danish National Board of Health in 1985.
Currently prof. Marianne Kastrup is co-chair of the World Psychiatric Assotiation (WPA) Transcultural Section and is on the board of the European Psychiatric Association and chairs the Ethics Committee and the task force on refugees and migrants. Previously was Member Expert Advisory Panel on Mental Health (World Health Organization) and Expert advisor for the European Council CPT. In 2002 she was elected as WPA Zone Representative for Northern Europe.
Prof. Marianne Kastrup is author/co-author of more than 100 peer-review articles, 15 books and more than 80 book-chapters. Her special interests include cultural psychiatry, psychiatric ethics, human rights and women’s issues.
