Professor of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, WPA Zone Representative for Western Europe (France)

Michel Botbol, most prominent professor of child and adolescent psychiatry from France, will discuss about his areas of expertise in Congress Symposiums.

Michel Botbol is Professor of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Western Brittany in Brest, France. He is the Chief of the department of Child and Adolescent psychiatry at the University Hospital of Brest, Psychoanalyst of the Paris Society of Psychoanalysis, and member of the IPA.
Dr. Botbol is currently the secretary general of the French Association of Psychiatry, Chair of the Psychoanalysis in World Psychiatric Association (WPA) Section on Psychiatry, WPA Zone Representative for Western Europe, Vice President of the World Association of Dynamic Psychiatry and Vice President of the WPA Section on Classification.

He is also the Founder and has been the President of the Association of the French Societies Members of WPA and he is, since 2011, the responsible for International Affairs at the French Federation of Psychiatry. He has served as the Assessor of the French Ministry of Justice for the juvenile justice system, Medical Director of Dupre Clinic in Paris, Chief of the Department of Psychiatry of Senlis and the Chief of the Department of Psychiatry for the Epernay region.

His main research interests are adolescent mental health (psychosis, border line PD, eating disorders), juvenile delinquency, early development and infantile autism, empathy, psychodynamic psychiatry and Milieu therapy. He has published more than 300 papers, various book chapters and four books.
