Professor of Psychiatry, WPA Board Member, Representative of WPA Zone 17, Eastern Asia (South Korea)
Min-Soo Lee, most prominent professor of psychiatry from South Korea, WPA Board Member, APA International Distinguished Fellow, will discuss about his areas of expertise in Congress Keynote Lecture and Symposiums.
Prof. Min-Soo Lee is a professor and head of the Department of Psychiatry at the Korea University, South Korea. He was educated and gained clinical and research experience in psychiatry at the College of Medicine of the Korea University, Psychiatric Department of Pohang Armed Forces General Hospital of Korean Navy, Neuropsychiatric Department of Capital Armed Forces General Hospital of Korean Navy, and Millhauser Laboratories at the Neuropsychiatric Department of New York University School of Medicine, USA.
At present, Prof. Lee serves as Concurrent Professor of Institute of Bio-Technology at Korea University, Director of Depression Center at Korea University Medical Center, Director of Pharmacogenomic Research Center for Psychotropic Drugs at Korea University, International Advisory Board of “Psychiatry and Clinical Neurosciences”, Director of Institute of Human Behavior and Genes at Korea University, and Associate Secretary-Treasurer of World Federation of Society of Biological Psychiatry (WFSBP). He worked as the president of Korean NeuroPsychiatric Association (KNPA) from 2012 to 2013 and Immediate past president of Pacific Rim College of Psychiatrists (PRCP). He is also World Psychiatric Association (WPA) Zona 17 representative and International Distinguished Fellow in American Psychiatric Association (APA).
Prof. Min-Soo Lee is interested in the genetic backgrounds of psychiatric disorders especially depression, and the genetic variations affecting on the responsiveness to psychotropic drugs. He has striven to develop biomarkers for predicting individual responses to antidepressant treatment. To do these, he has conducted pharmacogenetic and clinical studies on major psychiatric disorders in Korea and has published about 300 research reports and reviews.
