Tsuyoshi Akiyama

Clinical Professor of Psychiatry, WPA Former Secretary for Finances (Japan)

Prof. Tsuyoshi Akiyama, one of the world’s most prominent experts of psychiatry, will discuss about his areas of expertise in Congress Symposiums.

Prof. Tsuyoshi Akiyama graduated from Tokyo University in 1979 and has been practicing psychiatry in Japan ever since.

Currently he is a Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Tokyo University and Director of Neuropsychiatry and Psychosomatic Medicine at NTT Medical Center Tokyo. He is a former Secretary of Finances for the WPA, and serves as a board member for the World Federation of Mental Health, the Japanese Society of Psychiatry and Neurology and the Japanese Society of Transcultural Psychiatry. In 2008, prof. Tsuyoshi Akiyama received the Tokyo American Club Distinguished Achievement Award and in 2010 the Certificate of Honor from the Samaritan Institute.

His areas of interest are transcultural psychiatry on networking of available resources in Japan, Rework program, temperament and its effect in clinical and non-clinical populations.
